Over the past year we have come across many customers that would like to upgrade their pool lights to larger, brighter and more colorful fixtures but are simply restricted by the size of the pool niche. For those not as familiar with pool terminology, the pool light is generally referred to as a light housing, and the hole in the side of the pool that the light housing is installed into is referred to as the pool niche.
Many times during construction, a small pool niche is installed for some reason. This tends to then restrict the current owner to a light that may be smaller than they would like. Small size fixtures limit the type of light or bulb that you can physically fit into the fixture.
We most often times come across this situation with older pools where a customer wants to upgrade to the latest and greatest color LED technology. Often times the niche is quite small and what is commonly referred to as a spa size niche. Generally we come across these types of situations in the two scenarios below.
1 - Spa Size Niche - Typically 4-5 inches in diameter
2 - Medium Size Niche - Typically 5-7 inches in diameter
3 - Fiber Optic Install - Typically 1-3 inches in diameter
4 - Wall mount aka Nicheless - Typically 1/2 - 3 inches in diameter
There are various reasons why one might come across these situations, but rest assured that this will not limit your ability to upgrade to the best and brightest color LED light available in the market today. We have had great success both designing, installing and retrofitting pools with a light that we manufacture in house and sell across the US. These lights are tried and true and work in most existing pools and are not limited by the size of the niche that was originally built into the pool. These are easy to install over top of an existing niche and nothing but the cord has to pass through the existing conduit on the side of your pool. No construction, tearing up your pool required.
These lights are call nicheless, and come with the bracket that is mounted over your existing niche therefore not limiting you to smaller size lights. The bracket covers the niche and the light is extremely thin, only 1 1/2 inches thick. This light attaches to the bracket and completely covers over top of the existing niche hole. The light itself is about 11 inches in diameter so all of the above scenarios are covered.
Below is a link to the nicheless lights that we carry and keep in mind these are exclusive to us as we are the only company that sells these. You many find some cheaper plastic lights, but nothing like these. We manufacture these with the highest quality steel and LED components and offer a 1 year warranty on them. Call us if you have any questions as we have worked with clients that have just about every imaginable pool construction type that you could imagine.
